The Space Development Foundation offers collaborative project development, orchestration, and public\/educational information services.
\nThe Space Development Foundation crafts opportunities for participation that allow individuals and entities to work together to actually build products and have the fruits of these efforts inure to their benefit with minimum overhead and in a manner that suits their respective interests. This allows us to do more — faster, better, and cheaper than would necessarily otherwise occur base on unilateral action by any of the potential participants in a given project.
\nAdditional things could be done to further collaboration on civil space-related activities including space-based solar power. The SDF – with discernible standing \u2013 along with the invited assistance and participation of the National Space Society (NSS), other space advocacy organizations, and interested parties could – as appropriate – propose the following international initiatives:
\n1. Annual Bilateral workshops – bilateral workshops in conjunction with NSS\u2019s annual ISDCs starting in 2014 and each year thereafter;
\n2. Advanced schools \u2013 cross\/multi-discipline efforts to address themes of common interest that are likely to spawn follow on activity;
\n3. Virtual joint research centers – collaborative environments characterizing what is known to be known and what is known to be unknown;
\n4. Student and faculty fellowships – establish academic research partnerships to address challenging academic research opportunities in space exploration and development;
\n5. Space related student summer internships – in U.S. and non-U.S. academic\/research institutions respectively;
\n6. Space Technology Training, Innovation, and Transfer Programs – for training of U.S. and non-U.S. scientists in countries of each ones best practices on technology management, etc.;
\n7. Space Related Collaborative Activities \u2013 to nurture linkages among both countries\u2019 scientists and engineers to assist with collaborative efforts between non-U.S. and appropriate U.S. government and other organizations;
\n8. Enhanced Space Studies Graduate Student Collaborations – Partner with aerospace corporations and others to provide U.S. & non-U.S. graduate research students opportunities;
\n9. Enhanced Cooperation in Space Related Clean Energy \u2013 assist partner countries in addressing climate change, ensure mutual energy security, and build a clean energy economy that drives investment, job creation, and economic growth;
\n10. Participation in Joint Projects to Leverage S&T Capacity for Space Related Innovation & Entrepreneurship – Build on established efforts that promote commercialization of jointly developed innovative technologies with the potential for positive societal impact;
\n11. Enhancement of direct U.S. & non-U.S. advanced space science and education networks \u2013 work with the aerospace community to improve efforts supporting enormous data flows between the United States and partners;
\n12. Increase the use of space for scaling up innovation to solve global development challenges;
\n13. Foster Expanding Civil Space Cooperation \u2013 assist the U.S. & non-U.S. partners in a broad range of discussions and expanded work in a number of areas including measures to improve the use of earth observation data to promote sustainable development, and promote the compatibility and the interoperability of data systems;
\n14. Assist non-U.S. NGOs to launch Space-related Legislative and Political Action Networks \u2013 provide lessons learned by NSS members during NSS activities;
\n15. Assist and Expand Space Related Strategic Dialogues \u2013
\na) Energy Dialogue seeks to expand cooperation in areas such as clean energy and civil nuclear energy, and
\nb) Economic Dialogue; and
\n16. Assist and Expand Space Related Areas of the United States and non-U.S. Strategic Partnerships – Enhanced space related collaboration is a logical next step in the following areas of current cooperation and relevant bilateral\/multi-lateral groups.<\/p>\n
